Priyadarshan to direct Bhoot Police 2 without Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor: Report

Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan is said to be directing the sequel to the 2021 horror-comedy Bhoot Police. This new movie will have big changes in the cast and how it's made. Industry sources tell entertainment website Pinkvilla that Priyadarshan has been hired for a large amount of money — Rs 21 crores — showing that the makers are confident in his ideas for the next part of the story.

A person who knows about this project said that while Bhoot Police 2 will keep the same mix of humor and supernatural elements as the original, it won’t have the main stars from the first film — Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor.
"The sequel will keep the horror-comedy idea, but the actors will be completely different. Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor will not be coming back for the second movie," the source said.

"The plan is to bring in a new pair of actors — one older and one younger — to make an interesting team.
It’s a real horror-comedy, staying true to the genre but with more of a stage-like style," the insider added.

Bhoot Police, directed by Pavan Kirpalani, originally had Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Yami Gautam.
It was praised for its fun and spooky take on ghost hunting and became popular after it came out on OTT platforms in 2021.

Priyadarshan is famous for movies like Hera Pheri, Hungama, and Hulchul.
He is also working on two other projects: Bhooth Bangla and Haiwaan, both set for 2026. Bhooth Bangla, which stars Akshay Kumar, has already chosen its release date and marks a reunion between Kumar and the director after over a decade.
