According to reliable sources, Karan is planning a pure horror thriller next, and the film is currently in the casting phase.

A source told , "Karan Johar has decided on a horror thriller for his production company, Dharma Productions.

 He has cast Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead role. Adi read the script and quickly agreed to join the project. It's a unique movie, and everyone at Dharma is excited about its potential in theaters."

The same source added that the film will start filming in May 2026, and a top female lead is in advanced talks to co-star with Aditya Roy Kapur. "
