The family-friendly movie, *We Are Family* (2010), which features Kajol, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Arjun Rampal, turned 15 years old on September 2. On this special day, its director Siddharth P Malhotra talked to Bollywood Hungama about the casting, the film's performance, and more. According to information on IMDb, John Abraham was first considered for the role that Arjun Rampal finally played. When asked about this, Siddharth shared, "John was in the running. But before we could reach out to him, producer Karan Johar suggested Arjun. I think he had become a big name by then, and the character was of a father with two kids. So, we went with Arjun."
Siddharth also mentioned that even though the film didn’t do well at the box office, it still has a lot of fans.
He said, "Parents of my kids' friends tell me, 'We watched *We Are Family* and loved it. The songs are amazing.' I want to tell them, 'You weren’t there when it came out. Now you've made my film a cult!' (laughs)."
Right now, Siddharth is working on *Kamal Aur Meena*, a biopic about Kamal Amrohi and Meena Kumari.
When asked about the casting, he said, "We’ll announce the cast soon. The script is ready, and we’ve started meeting actors and sharing the script with them."
He added, "We’ll start filming next year because we need six months to prepare.
We need sets that show the time between 1952 and 1972. You can’t find real locations for that except in Amroha, where Kamal saab’s house is. It's over 100 years old. We can shoot there. Everywhere else in Mumbai has changed. It’s a big film and needs a lot of detail in costumes and sets."
Siddharth ended by saying, "It has one of the best scripts and I hope we can get a dream cast for it.
