BREAKING: YRF, Sun Pictures WARN theatres of Rs. 2 lakhs fine for underreporting War 2 and Coolie’s box office collections

Yash Raj Films (YRF) has taken a strong action to make sure the box office numbers for its upcoming movie, War 2, are accurate. They have told all cinema owners in India that if they do not report the real box office earnings, they will face big consequences. Bollywood Hungama has learned about this. The movie, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, is set to release in theatres on Thursday, August 14, 2025, and is expected to be one of the biggest movies of the year.

They are also checking the number of tickets sold, the prices, and the DCR for Coolie. The check will include all tickets, even those bought by friends, family, or government officials. If someone is found to be lying about the numbers, they will be fined Rs. 2 lakhs. Also, the RO (Receiving Office) and KDM (Key Delivery Note) for Coolie will be canceled in those cases.

Gaurav Paul, who is in charge of distribution for Delhi and UP at YRF, said that most of their cinema partners have been loyal and reliable for a long time.
But he also mentioned there have been some cases where people tried to hide the real box office numbers. To stop this, YRF has sent teams to check the numbers directly from the theatres across the country. This is to make sure everything is reported correctly and there is no mistake.

The fine of Rs. 2 lakhs per screen will be followed by strict legal action, which may also mean that the cinema will not be allowed to show any future movies from YRF.
YRF has made it clear that these actions are real and they will not be taken lightly if anyone breaks the rules.

This is especially important because even small mistakes in the numbers across many screens can lead to big losses for the company.
By setting up these rules and penalties upfront, YRF is sending a strong message that they will not allow dishonest behavior, especially for a big movie like War 2.

At the same time, YRF is also reassuring the cinema owners who follow the rules.
They said there is no need to worry if everyone is honest and follows the guidelines. This shows YRF is trying to maintain trust with their long-term partners while also keeping a close watch on what's happening.

Sun Pictures has also given similar warnings to the cinemas they work with.
They are sending their official representatives to check the ticket sales, prices, and DCR for Coolie. They are making sure that no one gets away with not being honest.
