Coolie Movie Review Synopsis:
COOLIE is about a man who faces a dangerous gangster.
Deva (Rajinikanth) runs a hostel-like setup in Chennai. One day, he finds out that his old friend, Rajasekhar (Sathyaraj), has died. The autopsy says he died of a heart problem. But Deva finds out he was actually murdered. Further investigations show Rajasekhar used to work for the powerful businessman Simon (Nagarjuna). Rajasekhar made a device that helped Simon a lot. Deva takes Rajasekhar's place and cleverly joins Simon's group. He is helped by Rajasekhar's daughter, Preethi (Shruti Haasan). The rest of the film is about what happens next.
Coolie Movie Story Review:
Lokesh Kanagaraj's story is fun to watch but also a bit messy.
His screenplay, written with help from Chandhru Anbazhagan, is not very strong but has many dramatic and exciting parts. The characters are well-developed. The dialogues by Lokesh and Chandhru are powerful.
Lokesh's direction is very audience-friendly, as expected.
He knows how to show heroes in a great light and doesn't disappoint. There are a few unexpected twists that surprise the audience. The action scenes in the mansion and the way they mix with the chaos in the train are exciting. The ending will be a hit with fans.
However, the plot lacks depth in some parts.
It gets confusing in many places and some parts aren't very believable. The track of Dayal is interesting but becomes boring after a while.
Coolie Movie Review Performances:
Rajinikanth gives a fantastic performance.
It's impressive how he keeps the audience entertained even at his age. His younger character scenes will create a big buzz in theaters. Nagarjuna delivers a strong performance as the villain. Soubin Shahir (Dayal) shines and is a big surprise in the film. Shruti Haasan supports well and holds her own. Sathyaraj has limited screen time, but he makes an impact. Upendra (Kaleesha) makes a memorable cameo. Aamir Khan (Dahaa) is excellent. Pooja Hegde adds to the glamour.
Coolie movie music and other technical aspects:
Anirudh Ravichander's music is upbeat.
Tracks like 'Coolie Disco', 'Chikitu', 'I Am The Danger', 'Mobsta' and 'Powerhouse' stand out. 'Monica' is lively but feels forced within the story. The background score matches the film's theme well.
Girish Gangadharan's cinematography is amazing.
Anbariv's action scenes are very intense. Sathees Kumar's production design and Praveen Raja's costumes are realistic. Philomin Raj's editing could have been smoother.
Coolie Movie Review Conclusion:
Overall, COOLIE has many exciting moments and lots of Rajinikanth's charm.
However, some parts of the writing are weak and could be an issue. Despite this, the film has potential to do well in Hindi-speaking markets due to the hype and the long weekend.
