Nana Patekar is no longer with us. Eleven years before his passing, the actor made a touching confession: “I am a little obsessed with death.” He also spoke about being forced to work at the age of 13: “Someone close to my father took away everything, including his property.”
As part of the promotion of Welcome Back in August 2015, Nana Patekar told Bombay Times, “When I was just 13, we went from being middle class to lower middle class and finally lower class, as someone close to my father took away everything he had, including his property.
All of a sudden, I started working at the age of 13.After school, I would go walk up and down eight kilometres to Chunabhatti to paint film posters to make Rs 35 per month and get a meal a day.I was in Class IX, but that humiliation and hunger taught me so much that I didn't need to go to any acting school.”
He confessed, “I used to go land up at some friend's place at lunch time or dinner time and say, 'Hi.
Hello. How are you?' hoping that he may ask me and insist that I have a roti. So, for me there can be no fragrance better than that of a chapati.”
He added, “Fortunately or unfortunately, I don't eat sweets today.
I used to like them so much at that time, but since I could not get them then, till today I don't eat sweets.Today, sweets are like gold for me; I will not eat.”
Towards the end of the interview, Nana Patekar said, “Somewhere I am a little obsessed with death now.
When I see people celebrating, I feel, what kind of celebration is this?Is this going to last forever?”
He also said, “From the beginning, I don't have that fear of death.
I am not afraid of getting into anything in front of me and I will go and catch the person who is wrong, whether he is holding a gun or whatever else.I don't worry about the consequences.”

Ramayana expected to have paid previews on November 4; Godzilla Minus Zero to get limited showcasing in IMAX in India
Around a month is left before the release of Ramayana, and excitement is slowly growing. However, there is still no clear information about the exact release date, and the makers have not announced it on the film's official pages.
Source has now learned that the makers are looking at a few options, including holding paid previews.
A trade source told, "The makers are considering the idea of holding paid previews of Ramayana on the evening of Wednesday, November 4, in India.
The next day, Thursday, November 5, the film will have a full release."
The source added, "However, this plan is still not confirmed.
A final decision is expected in the next few days, as several international companies like Sony Pictures, IMAX, etc., are involved and need to be informed about the global release strategy. So, expect more clarity by the end of this week or early next week."
Meanwhile, Source has also learned that the highly anticipated Japanese film Godzilla Minus Zero will also release in India during the same week as Ramayana.
The source said, "It will release in India at the same time as North America, on Friday, November 6.
Like Ramayana, Godzilla Minus Zero is also an IMAX release. However, since Ramayana is a local film and is expected to have much higher demand, Godzilla Minus Zero will get limited showing in IMAX theaters. This means that at most IMAX cinemas, it is likely to get only one show, while the rest will be allocated to Ramayana."
Two weeks ago, Source exclusively spoke to Kamal Gianchandani, Chief Business Planning & Strategy at PVR INOX Limited and CEO of PVR INOX Pictures Limited, who confirmed, "Godzilla Minus Zero will release in India.
Most likely, it will come out in the same week as Ramayana."

Salman Khan vs Kala Hiran: Delhi High Court seeks reply from actor on Amit Jani’s plea seeking stay on proceedings
The Delhi High Court has asked Salman Khan to reply to a request made by filmmaker Amit Jani.Jani wants the court to pause the legal process in Khan's civil case related to the movie Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy. The case was discussed by Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani.Jani's lawyer said that the legal requests made by Khan in this case are very similar to those in another case that is still being heard by the court.
During the hearing, Jani's team argued that Khan is trying to take on the same issue in two different legal processes.
They asked the court to stop the new case until the earlier one is resolved.Salman Khan's lawyer, Ravi Prakash, promised to submit Khan's official response to the court.
The court also wanted to understand the exact reasons behind Khan's legal claims.
Prakash explained that Khan first asked the court to protect his image and public recognition. The court gave Khan temporary protection in December 2025.
Khan's lawyers said that after that order, the film crew released promo videos and gave media interviews that compared the movie to parts of Khan's life, like the famous 1998 blackbuck poaching incident in Rajasthan.
They claimed that these similarities could damage Khan's reputation.
Khan then asked the court to stop the spread of the film's promotional material and delay its release.
The situation got worse in July 2026 when the court told the filmmakers to remove the film's first digital teaser and some social media posts. The court also ordered that the film couldn't use Khan's name, image, or any recognizable features without his permission.
As the case moved on, the court considered whether the film was ready for release.
Jani's team said the film wasn't complete and hadn't been submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for approval. They also said that the film's official trailer had not been released yet.
The possibility of releasing the film online was also discussed.
The court considered Khan's concerns about the film or its promo content being released on digital platforms like OTT services.
Jani's team has kept opposing Khan's request for court orders, saying they shouldn't be granted.
The latest hearing was about the filmmaker's argument that the current case is similar to an earlier one already being heard by the court.
Justice Bhambhani has now asked Salman Khan's lawyer to file Khan's detailed reply.
The case has been set for a full hearing on December 16, 2026.
The case involves conflicting legal arguments about Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, and the court has not yet decided on the main points brought up in the most recent filing.
