An event called Big Cine Expo happens every year where people from the movie industry come to celebrate cinema and the exhibition business.These people include theatre owners, design consultants, equipment makers, system integrators, project managers, and others who work in the cinema world.One big part of the event is showing special clips from a new movie.This year, people will get to see some secret footage from the much-anticipated movie Ramayana.The film stars big names like Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sunny Deol, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, and others.
The Big Cine Expo 2026 will take place on August 18 and 19 in Chennai, and the preview of the Ramayana footage will happen on the first day.
Attendees will not be allowed to use their phones or take any photos or videos during the screening.This is because the footage will include parts of the movie that have not been seen before.There will also be team members present in the screening area to make sure nobody takes pictures or records anything during the show.
However, the actors from Ramayana, the director Nitesh Tiwari, and the producer Namit Malhotra will not be at the event.
Instead, Parminder Chadda, who is the technical head of Prime Focus, will be the one to present the exclusive footage.
In previous years, like the 2024 edition of Big Cine Expo, Atlee shared exclusive scenes from Baby John (2024), starring Varun Dhawan.
A year before that, Boney Kapoor shared some material from Maidaan (2024).In 2022, people saw exciting clips from Brahmastra (2022), starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
On the same day, August 18, the IMAX Big Cine Awards 2026 will take place.
Rakesh Roshan, a top filmmaker, will be honored with the Special Achievement Award.Also, Roopbani Cinema in Purnia, Bihar, owned by Vishek Chauhan, will be given the Best Single-Screen Theatre of the Year Award.Vishek is famous for his strong views on cinema and the box office, and he is also a writer now.
Roopbani Cinema will share this award with Mukta A2 Bharatmata in Lalbaug, Mumbai.
This old single-screen theater was an important place for Marathi and regional movies since 1941.It was closed for a few years but reopened earlier this year on March 24.The renovated theater now has Dolby Surround Sound, 2K laser projection, and better seating options like recliners and sofas.
Other cinema chains like AMB Cinemas, City Pride, Roongta Cinemas, Rajhans Cinemas, Connplex Cinemas, Starline Cinemas, and several others will also be honored in different categories at the awards.
