Akshay Kumar to play Rajesh Khanna in Farhan Akhtar and Neeraj Pandey’s R D Burman biopic

Earlier in the week, it was reported that Akshay Kumar is coming back to work with director Neeraj Pandey on the R D Burman biopic.The news also said that Akshay will have a longer role in this movie, which is about R D Burman and has Farhan Akhtar playing him.

Source has an exciting and special update for Akshay Kumar fans.

Reliable sources say Akshay has joined the project to play Superstar Rajesh Khanna.A source told Bollywood Hungama, "The relationship between Rajesh Khanna and R D Burman was very special, and the makers want to show that on screen.Akshay Kumar is the obvious choice for this role because of his family connection with Twinkle Khanna and Dimple Kapadia."

The source also shared that Akshay is really excited to play his father in law in the film.

He said, "Akshay is a big fan of Rajesh Khanna and really admired the old superstar, who is also his father in law.He has set aside 10 days to shoot for the film, which starts filming in October 2026."

The R D Burman biopic is directed by Neeraj Pandey and produced by Excel Entertainment.

The team is currently looking for more actors to play important roles from that time period.
