Trade advises Akshay Kumar to stick to comedies and mass-appealing cinema for a healthy box office track record: “Akshay is brilliant in comedies and audiences appreciate that more than seeing him in serious roles”

Akshay Kumar has performed well in various types of movies. Before the pandemic, he received a lot of praise and box office success for acting in socially important films. However, the post-pandemic period has been tough for this kind of movie. As a result, some of his films in this category didn't do well.

On the other hand, his last four films - Housefull 5, Jolly LLB 3, Bhooth Bangla, and Welcome To The Jungle - were successful.

The common thing in all these movies is that they had a lot of humor and were fun to watch. We talked to experts in the film trade and asked if he should stick to such movies for now, as that is what audiences want right now.

Trade analyst Atul Mohan said, "Akshay has made socially relevant films before.

But now, the time is for big, large-scale movies.Bhooth Bangla and Welcome To The Jungle are the right movies at the right time.Multi-star movies and big projects are like a full plate you enjoy in a restaurant.Getting the same plate delivered as a parcel and eating it at home isn't as fun. These kinds of movies will help revive the theater business and benefit everyone in the industry."

Girish Johar agreed, "Akshay is great in comedies and audiences like that more than seeing him in serious roles.

Once you make a serious film like Kesari Chapter 2, it's harder to add music and commercially appealing songs. But in movies like Welcome To The Jungle and Bhooth Bangla, that's not an issue. It makes it easier to promote and gain acceptance."

Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani Cinema in Purnia, Bihar, said, "If you are a commercial actor with a good sense of the market, you should make films that people want to see right now.

Instead of forcing your ideas on the audience, you should listen to them.If you listen, you will be rewarded.Otherwise, you might get left behind. The public will watch what they want to watch. You can't tell them what kind of film to watch. They are the ones spending money and time.Right now, they want to watch horror comedies, funny action movies, intense love stories, and big, exciting films. So, we should make films according to their choices. If you make a film like Dangal, people won't come. They don't have the need for it.After five years, they might want films like Dangal again."

Meanwhile, trade analyst Taran Adarsh said, "He has shown his versatility again and again.

His next film is Haiwaan (a thriller). It brings him back together with Priyadarshan and Saif Ali Khan after many years. From what I've heard, it should be another success as it's a very different role for him."
