Welcome To The Jungle is doing well at the box office because people are talking about it positively.However, another comedy called Dhamaal 4 is coming out this Friday, and experts think it might take some of Welcome To The Jungle’s audience.
A veteran in the film industry, Taran Adarsh, said, “Dhamaal 4 could slightly reduce Welcome To The Jungle’s earnings because it will be in theaters during the third week.Also, since Dhamaal 4 is a comedy, its impact might be bigger.”
Vishek Chauhan, who owns a cinema in Purnia, Bihar, agreed, saying, “Dhamaal 4 will take some of Welcome To The Jungle’s audience.This could reduce the business of Welcome To The Jungle a bit.”
Trade analyst Atul Mohan said, “Dhamaal 4 is also a family-friendly film that has a lot of potential.
There’s a big audience for it.Just like Welcome To The Jungle, Dhamaal is a successful series.The original Dhamaal (2019) was loved a lot by kids.I remember it had good attendance even in its fourth and fifth weeks.”
He added, “It’s great to see big-star comedies and clean, funny films returning.These are the kinds of movies meant for the big screen.They are a great way for families to go out together.These films help both big cities and smaller towns.”
Taran Adarsh said, “Thanks to these films, people are coming back to the theaters, not just in cities but also in smaller areas.Blockbusters like Pushpa 2, Jawan, Pathaan, Gadar 2, Stree 2, etc., are showing great numbers in not just big cities but also in B and C grade towns.We need to make films that are enjoyed by a wide audience, not just a few areas or a specific group.”
Girish Johar, a producer and film expert, said, “Comedy is one of the hardest genres to make, but it’s also the most popular. People love to laugh and get entertained.Who doesn’t want a good laugh?Comedy is preferred a lot.There are very few actors and makers who can do it well, and Akshay is one of them.”
Bollywood has not been making many comedies lately. This year, four comedy films are coming out in less than two months — Pati Patni Aur Woh, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, Welcome To The Jungle and Dhamaal 4.
Will Dhamaal 4 affect Welcome To The Jungle? Experts are sharing their thoughts, and they’re celebrating the return of the comedy genre: “Thanks to these films, the audience is back, not just in urban areas but in mass areas as well.”
Girish Johar said, “That’s a good sign. It means more people are going to theaters.Even though these films may not always get great reviews, the audience really enjoys them.”
Taran Adarsh added, “We were not making these kinds of films enough before, as we focused on city-centric movies. People, or the average citizen, have always enjoyed masala movies — the kind that make you forget your worries.Manmohan Desai used to make such films.For example, Amar Akbar Anthony (1977) had a scene where the three sons donated blood to their mother.People were clapping at the time.Today, such a scene might get criticized, but it worked then.”
Atul Mohan compared watching big movies to eating out, saying, “Some of the films we are making are similar to what is available on OTT platforms. Why would people go to the cinema to watch them?If the same food is available at home and in restaurants, why would they order from the latter?There are certain meals like a Thali that can only be enjoyed in a restaurant.Films like Welcome To The Jungle and Dhamaal 4 are like a Thali.They have different kinds of characters and are best enjoyed in theaters.”
Taran Adarsh concluded by saying, “Everyone has stress and worries.They all want to laugh and enjoy.Welcome To The Jungle is a movie that makes you forget everything for two and a half hours.That’s the magic of cinema.”
