Despite negativity, Alpha collects Rs. 33 cr in 3 days; does it prove Alia Bhatt is a star or exposes limits of her box-office pull? Trade speaks up; slams trolls: “They have no value; theatrical audience doesn’t give a damn about what trolls are propagating”

Alpha had a good weekend, but during the weekdays, it dropped more than usual because of some bad reports.This caused different opinions in the trade and industry about Alia Bhatt’s popularity.Some people believe that her star power attracted a lot of viewers to the cinema, even with a lot of bad news about the movie.Others think the movie should have done better, especially considering how much it cost.This has shown the limits of her box-office appeal.

Trade analyst Atul Mohan said, “In terms of cost, the movie should have done better.” Trade veteran Taran Adarsh said, “There are two sides to this.

Star power is important, and the YRF Spy Universe is a big brand.Some people were curious to see what it had to offer this time.Also, this time, there were two female leads taking the universe forward, so both star power and brand value are at play.But it should have opened higher, preferably above 10 crores.I don’t know why there was so much negativity before the release.You can’t judge the movie without watching it.But you can’t control social media either.People will talk about it, especially when the movie is in the public eye.”

Everyone agrees that she is one of the few actresses who can pull crowds on her own.

Taran Adarsh said, “Alia Bhatt is a very good actress.If you look at her work, she has made some great movies.My favorite is Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022).She did well in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) too.But in Alpha, I felt she wasn’t a good fit.Sure, she has superhuman abilities, but it was hard to believe she could beat up so many people.”

Atul Mohan said, “Alia Bhatt is a star.

The new actresses are nowhere near her.She and Deepika are the only big names today.”

Producer and film analyst Girish Johar said, “There’s no doubt that she’s a brilliant actress.

Unfortunately, though she did her best, the writing of the film is what caused it to do poorly.”

He added, “Her popularity is still there.

One film can’t affect her.Alia has a long way to go.If she chooses the right film, she could soon be the top female lead in the country.”

Taran Adarsh is confident that Alpha’s failure won’t affect her next film, Love & War.

“It stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali is directing.I’m sure Alia has an important role in it.For me, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and S R Rajamouli are two of the best filmmakers.”

Vishek Chauhan, owner of Roopbani Cinema in Purnia, Bihar, said, “Trolling doesn’t matter.

Trolls don’t buy tickets or influence people’s decisions.Theatrical audiences act on their own.They don’t care what the trolls say.They gave the movie what it deserved.Also, Alia Bhatt and Alpha are two different things.The audience understands that, and I hope the press and those who take social media seriously also take note of this.”

He also said, “There may be some negativity about an actor, but people aren’t stupid that they’ll punish her film for it.

Of course, if something like Padmaavat happens and an organization like the Karni Sena starts a campaign against you, it’s a different matter.The audience doesn’t take a vow to not watch an Alia Bhatt film.Other actors like Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan have also faced trolling, but their films are still watched by all kinds of people.Theatrical audiences are neutral and decide to watch or not based on the movie’s quality.They want to know if they’ll have a good time in the cinema.If you can give them that, there’s no limit.”
