Mumbai court restrains CarryMinati from posting defamatory content against Karan Johar

A court in Mumbai has stopped YouTuber Ajey Nagar, who is known as CarryMinati, along with his talent manager Deepak Char and others, from sharing any harmful or false content about filmmaker Karan Johar on social media. This order was given on February 9 by Principal Sessions Judge P.G. Bhonsale in a case titled Karan Johar v. Ajey Nagar & Ors. The case was started by Karan Johar through Apoorva Mehta, who is the CEO of Dharma Productions, the company that Karan Johar owns.

Allegations of harmful and rude content

In his request, Karan Johar said that social media influencers had made harmful comments about him in videos they posted on YouTube.
"The comments are so rude and harmful that they need to be removed right away," his request said. The lawyer for CarryMinati argued before the court that the videos in question had already been taken down and that there was no real reason for Karan Johar to go to court.

But Karan Johar disagreed with this, saying that even though the original videos were deleted, they had already been seen by "millions of people."
"Unknown people are making clips of it and sharing it again on social media," Karan Johar said.

The court gave a temporary stop order

After listening to both sides, the court noted that it seemed like CarryMinati and Deepak Char had made harmful comments and used very rude language against Karan Johar.


"These videos need to be removed immediately.
There should be a stop order against everyone who shares or re-shares these videos on social media platforms. This is a suitable case to give a temporary stop order against the defendants," the court said.

The court then gave an order that temporarily stops content creators and others, including unnamed people called John Doe, from posting or sharing any more harmful content about Karan Johar until the filmmaker's request for temporary relief is fully reviewed.


Additionally, the court told Meta Platforms to remove the video links that Karan Johar had pointed out in the case.
The case will now go forward as the court considers Karan Johar's request for temporary relief.
