The first major movie of 2026, Border 2, has finally come out, and there's a lot of buzz around it because of the great cast, the nostalgia from the first movie, and strong early ticket sales. When people go to watch it, they might be surprised right at the start. That's because Boman Irani is listed in the "Special Thanks" section. This could make some fans curious and maybe even think he has a small role in the film.
Source has learned that Boman Irani does not have a special appearance in Border 2.
He is honored in the opening credits because he provided the voice at the beginning. The film starts by explaining the situation in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in 1971 and how it led to a full war between India and Pakistan. His deep voice and well-written lines make the voiceover very effective, helping viewers understand the story better.
Border 2 features Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty.
It is the second film in the Border series; the first was released in 1997 and was a huge hit. Both films are set during the 1971 war but focus on different battles. The original Border, starring Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, was produced and directed by J P Dutta. For Border 2, J P Dutta (along with Nidhi Dutta and Bhushan Kumar) is the producer, and Anurag Singh, who directed Kesari (2019), is the director.
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Nidhi Dutta, who also wrote the film, said that J P Dutta was very moved by it.
She said, “That was my acid test (laughs). To answer your question, he has seen the film. The conversation we had was very personal, which I won’t speak about. All I can say is that he kept weeping and had tears in his eyes. That was my Oscar!”
