This news came to light as there is a lot of buzz about a new project called Oh My Goddess, which is believed to be the third installment of the OMG series.
The new movie is said to star Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji, with Rani Mukerji expected to have a role that is as long as her part in OMG 2 was. According to reports, filming for Oh My Goddess is planned to start in February 2026.
Digital18 says they are the legal owner of all rights related to the OMG franchise, including the brand, its reputation, and any connections it has with the public.
They have been given this ownership because they are the successor to Viacom18 Media Private Limited’s studios business, as confirmed by a court-approved agreement dated November 14, 2024.
The notice clearly tells everyone that they can't make any sequel or related project without Digital18’s permission.
It also says that anyone who tries to use a name or promotional material that looks like OMG could be breaking the rules and harming the brand. The message is clear: no one can create or announce anything connected to OMG 2 without approval.
It is thought that this public statement was made in response to the news about Oh My Goddess, which has led to questions about who really owns the rights to the franchise.
Digital18 wants to make sure that no one else uses the OMG name or brand without their permission, and they warn that any unauthorized use could be considered a violation of their rights under the law.
