Trade feels that Dhurandhar has the potential to break Pushpa 2’s record and emerge as the biggest Hindi of ALL time: “The way its performing, it’ll recover the investment of the second part from the first part itself!”

Source talked to trade experts during the first week of Dhurandhar and asked them about their lifelong predictions. Back then, no one could have imagined that the Ranveer Singh-starrer would make such huge money and become the first movie to cross Rs. 200 crores in just two weeks. The film has now made Rs. 479.50 crores in two weeks and crossed the Rs. 500 crore mark on its third Friday. Can the Aditya Dhar-directed film beat the earnings of Stree 2 (Rs. 627.02 crores) and become the highest-grossing Bollywood film ever? Also, can it surpass the Rs. 700 crore mark and beat the record of Pushpa 2 (Hindi version)?

We asked trade experts to give their opinions on this.

 Trade veteran Taran Adarsh said, “No one can predict the lifetime earnings. I’ve always said that the opening day numbers don’t decide the final earnings. Sometimes a film grows rapidly and impressively. There are many examples like Sholay (1975), Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), and Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994). But when we look at their lifetime earnings, that’s what matters. Unfortunately, a lot of people in our industry make decisions based on the first day’s numbers.”

He added, “This film has defied all predictions and estimates by a huge margin.

 Look at the way people were talking about it on day one. ‘Sabki bolti bandh hai!’”

Girish Johar, producer and well-known film business analyst, said, “The way the film is trending, anything is possible.

 I think this is the first time that Week 2 has been bigger than Week 1, at this level. On its third Friday, Dhurandhar is doing better than Avatar: Fire And Ash, which is a new release. So, anything can happen. It can cross the Rs. 600 crore mark and might even reach the Rs. 700 crore mark.”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan stated, “It will definitely cross the Rs. 600 crore mark.

 It should end its run with earnings of more than Rs. 700 crores. The film is being widely discussed. Akshaye Khanna is dominating the Reels.”

Suniel Wadhwa, co-founder and director at film production and distribution firm Karmic Films, said, “It can cross the earnings of Pushpa 2 as it has great potential.

 Dhurandhar has great repeat value. People are watching it twice and even three times, and the film is doing well even with competition from Avatar: Fire And Ash.”

Taran Adarsh further said, “I’ve seen people celebrating a success, but this kind of celebration is rare.

 Not just in the Hindi film industry but even in the South, people are celebrating. Many South filmmakers have appreciated this film. I am very happy that the producers invested a lot and showed confidence in this project. Jyoti Deshpande deserves high marks. For me, Jyoti Deshpande and Aditya Dhar are the biggest stars of this film! We’ve seen these actors in other films as well, but there’s a noticeable difference in this film.”

He concluded by saying, “The way Dhurandhar is performing, it’ll recover the cost of the second part from the first part itself!”
