If the early bookings are any sign, Bollywood might be in for a quiet Friday. The movies started showing yesterday, but ticket sales aren’t doing very well. Both 120 Bahadur and Mastiii 4 are waiting for their audiences, and not many tickets have been sold so far. Even though there's still one more day for things to change, it doesn’t look like either film will sell more than 10,000 tickets before the first show starts.
Both movies are very different from each other and appeal to completely different groups of people.
120 Bahadur is a war film with a patriotic feel. The film, led by Farhan Akhtar, has been promoted for months, and the excitement has been growing in the last few weeks. It’s aimed mainly at people who go to multiplexes. On the other hand, Mastiii 4 is more suited for single screen audiences, but there aren’t many of those these days. Though Masti and Grand Masti did well, Great Grand Masti wasn’t as successful. The makers hope that Mastiii 4 can bring back the franchise and the genre, and they expect it to do better than before.
Both films are likely to depend on what people say about them.
When it comes to booking tickets on the spot, Mastiii 4 might do better on the first day. While we wait to see what happens on Saturday, expect both films to start slowly on Friday, with each opening in the range of Rs. 2-3 crores.
