Sunny Deol’s ‘Border 2’ to hit theatres a day early now; here’s the new release date

Sunny Deol's new movie, Border 2, which is the follow-up to J.P. Dutta's 1997 war film, will now be shown in theaters on January 22, 2026, he shared on Friday.

The movie was originally planned to come out on January 23.

Sunny, who is 67 years old, wrote on X, "Hindustan ke liye ladenge...phir ek baar!

 #Border2 hits theatres on Jan 22, 2026 #HappyIndependenceDay." 

In Border 2, Sunny will be acting with Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty.

The first Border movie was set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and focused on the Battle of Longewala.

 In that film, Sunny played the role of Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri. Other actors in the original film included Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Puneet Issar, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Rakhee, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharbani Mukherjee.

In Border 2, Sunny will return as Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri.

 The movie is planned to come out before Republic Day. Varun, Diljit, and Ahan will also play soldiers in the film.

The director of Border 2 is Anurag Singh, who has worked on movies like Kesari (2019), Punjab 1984 (2014), Jatt & Juliet (2012), and Dil Bole Hadippa!

 (2009).
