The Netflix logo appears during the end credits song, showing that the streaming giant is now part of this romantic and musical story.
This is important because, until now, all YRF films were released on Amazon Prime after their theatrical run. With Saiyaara, a new chapter is beginning between the respected production house and the global streaming platform.
Interestingly, YRF and Netflix have worked together before.
YRF created YRF Entertainment, which makes web series and digital films, and focuses on content for international audiences. The first digital project from this division was The Romantics. This docu-series premiered on Netflix on February 14, 2023, and honored Yash Chopra and Yash Raj Films' 50-year cultural legacy. Later that year came The Railway Men, a thrilling mini-series that honored the railway workers at Bhopal station, who were also heroes during the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy.
In 2024, YRF launched Maharaj, which marked Junaid Khan's debut.
The controversial courtroom drama also starred Sharvari, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Shalini Pandey. In November, the slice-of-life sports film Vijay 69, starring Anupam Kher, won a lot of hearts on the OTT platform.
Just last week, YRF's big-budget mystery show Mandala Murders, starring Vaani Kapoor, released on Netflix.
Earlier this year, at a big Netflix event, YRF Entertainment announced another show called Akka, starring Keerthy Suresh, Radhika Apte, and Tanvi Azmi.
Back to Saiyaara, this film starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda is doing really well in cinemas and is on track to cross the 300 crore mark by the end of its third weekend.
Just like any other Hindi theatrical release, the Netflix premiere of Saiyaara won't happen soon, especially since the film is doing so well at the box office.
