After the pandemic, it's been hard to find big hits at the box office regularly. But July 2025 was different. This month had four Fridays, and every single one had a successful movie. It's been a while since there was a hit every week in a month.
It started on July 4 with the release of Metro…In Dino and Jurassic World: Rebirth.
Metro…In Dino started slowly, but good word of mouth, music, and the story helped it do well, even in the second week. Jurassic World: Rebirth is part of a series that always does well. It's now in its fifth week and is expected to pass the 100 crore mark.
Superman, released on July 11, faced some challenges.
But strong word of mouth and the superhero's popularity helped it do very well. The film is on track to cross 50 crores by the end of the week.
July 18 was a big day with the release of Saiyaara.
The film opened strongly and kept going, even during the weekdays. By the end of its second week, it had earned 285. 25 crores and is expected to pass 300 crores by the end of the third weekend.
Last week, Mahavatar Narsimha came out.
It opened with 1. 46 crores and ended the week with 5. 92 crores on Thursday. It has earned 32. 82 crores in its first week, and it's unclear how long it will continue to do well.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps didn't perform as well, but still earned 25 crores in its first week.
All six films in July together earned 542. 60 crores.
Other movies in July, like Maalik, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Smurfs, Tanvi The Great, and Nikita Roy, earned 25.
82 crores. So the total for July releases is 568. 42 crores. When you include the June releases like Sitaare Zameen Par, Maa, and F1: The Movie, the total reaches close to 600 crores.
Some might say there have been other months where the box office earnings were higher than 600 crores.
But in those months, usually, only one or two films did most of the work, while the rest didn't do well. July 2025 was special because every Friday had a hit.
This reminds us of July 2011.
That month started with a strong opening with Delhi Belly. Murder 2 came next on July 8, and then Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara on July 15. Singham was released on July 22, but the next week, July 29, had some weak releases. In July 2025, there were no weak Fridays.
