Planning an Oscar campaign
The latest buzz is that production house Mythri Movie Makers will independently submit Pushpa 2 for the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards. The campaign is inspired by the success of RRR, which made waves at the 2023 Oscars.
According to a Mid-Day report, an industry source said, "The team plans to launch a massive lobbying campaign in Hollywood." These include exclusive film screenings in major US cities like Los Angeles, New York and Boston, press events and influencer campaigns. The aim is to capture the attention of critics and Academy members and build up a lot of excitement for the Oscars ceremony.
Allu Arjun's role in the promotion
Allu Arjun, who has received much acclaim for his acting, will headline the global promotional tour along with the cast and crew. A 10-city tour is reportedly planned to capture the attention of international audiences and critics. "Arjun's presence will add great value to the campaign," said a source close to the project. "The team is confident that his acting and the film's global appeal will resonate with audiences around the world."
Trading expert's perspective
Commenting on the ambitious plan, trading expert Ramesh Bhalla said: "It's a bold venture but a worthwhile one." Pushpa 2's global reach will depend heavily on its storytelling and accessibility. Its planned Netflix release eight weeks after the theatrical release will also be a key factor in determining its reception.
Beyond the Oscars: Expanding Global Appeal
The creators are not just looking at the Oscars. By bringing Pushpa 2 to international markets, they are aiming to solidify the franchise's global presence. This strategic move is aimed at paving the way for the third installment, Pushpa 3: The Rampage, to secure a larger international audience.
