Sikandar Ka Muqaddar Movie Review: SIKANDAR KA MUQADDAR has fine performances but a weak second half.

Sikandar Ka Muqadar Review Rated {2.0/5} Starring: Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia, Jimmy Shaygill Director: Neeraj PandeySikandar Ka Muqadar Movie Review Synopsis: SIKANDAR KA MUQADDAR is the story of a police officer and three suspects. The 10th DFFI Exhibition is being held at the NICSO Exhibition Centre, Mumbai on 15th February 2009. Kamini Singh (Tamannaah Bhatia) and Mangesh Desai (Rajeev Mehta) are stationed at the Divine Diamonds & Jewellery stall where they work. Sikandar Sharma (Avinash Tiwary), a computer technician, is at the exhibition to check out the audiovisual slides. Suddenly, a police officer on duty at the exhibition, Santosh Kamble (Praful Joshi), receives an anonymous tip-off about an impending robbery by four armed assailants. The police follow the clues to track down and kill the robber. In the meantime, all visitors to the exhibition are asked to stay in the evacuation area. After the robber's body is taken away, Kamini and Mangesh return to their booth and find that a red solitaire worth Rs 50 to 60 crore is missing. As the CCTV cameras had been switched off by the robbers, the police are unable to identify who has taken the solitaire. Jaswinder Singh (Jimmy Sheirgill), an experienced police officer who has solved all the cases assigned to him, is asked to investigate. He is known for his sharp 'mool-vriti' (instinct). Based on his intuition, he concludes that Solitaire was snapped by either Sikandar, Kamini or Mangesh. All are stripped and searched but no valuables are found. Nevertheless, he arrests her and even seeks seven days pre-trial custody from the court. Meanwhile, the film also has a track set in 2024 where Jasinder is no longer the decorated police officer he once was. He now has his eye on Sikandar who has settled in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. When Sikandar returns to India, they decide to meet to settle old scores. What happens next will determine the rest of the film. Sikandar Ka Muqaddar Movie Story Review: The story by Neeraj Pandey is promising. But the screenplay by Neeraj Pandey and Vipul K Rawal is unconvincing and falters. However, some sequences are very well written. The dialogues of Neeraj Pandey and Vipul K Rawal are conversational yet punchy. Neeraj Pandey's direction is straightforward despite the back and forth narration. To his credit, he mesmerizes the audience with his trademark direction. The story is unusual. Nothing like this has been seen before and it mesmerizes the audience. The film starts on a bang, but that's also the best part of the film. Some of the memorable scenes are Sikandar and Jaswinder's long-awaited reunion at the rooftop bar, Sikandar and Kamini's romance, and the courtroom scene. On the other hand, it's the second half that carries the film. One would expect fireworks or at least Neeraj to sum up the film well. He fails on both fronts. The tension is somewhat unexpected, but not completely unexpected. It also raises many questions, especially about the thief's intentions. The dark secret of one of the characters is excruciating, especially the circumstances that led to this development. It is also confusing that one of the characters is forgotten after a certain amount of time, making you wonder why he was in the film in the first place. Finally, the final scene is unconvincing. He handles some of the tough scenes with ease. Tamannaah Bhatia, as always, has a great screen presence and is a top notch actor. Jimmy Shergill is the best part of the film and manages to enhance the impact of some scenes. Rajeev Mehta is decent but just barely. Divya Dutta (Kaushalya Singh) is adorable in a cameo role. Riddhima Pandit (Priya Sawant) and Zoya Afros (Tabasm) are good in their small roles. Santanu Ghatak (Anoop, the tipper) is entertaining. Praful Joshi, Khurshed (Parker, the lawyer), Rashmi Shukla (the judge), Ashrut Jain (Manish, Sikandar's girlfriend) and Aparna Upadhyay (Sikandar's mother) make a big impact. Shivraj Walvekar (Shrikant Wagh, ACP of 2024), Bharat Jha (Tiwari, the landlord), Arpit Mishra (Mama Ji), Anil Pandey (Male Judge) and K.S. Krishnan (Anna) are decent. Film Music and Other Technical Aspects of Sikandar Ka Muqaddar: There is only one song, "Thehre Rahen", which is passable but beautifully executed. Sanjoy Chowdhury's background music has the typical Neeraj Pandey stamp. Arvind Singh's cinematography is superb, especially the camera pans that heighten the suspense. Mayur Sharma's production design is passable, though Falguni Thakore's costumes are too bright in some scenes. Amar Shetty's action is minimal. Praveen Kathikuloth's editing could have been better. Sikandar Ka Muqaddar Movie Review Conclusion: Overall, SIKANDAR KA MUQADDAR features good performances from its lead actors but suffers from a weak second half, an uninspiring climax and a faltering screenplay.
