Deepika Padukone returns to the screen after motherhood with the Live Love Laugh Lecture Series; welcomes Arianna Huffington

The Live Love Laugh (LLL) Foundation has announced that Deepika Padukone, the founder of LLL, will host the 2024 installment of the Live Love Laugh Lecture Series. Thrive Global founder and CEO Arianna Huffington is this year's featured guest. Arianna and Deepika talk about inner transformation, redefining success, and the path to well-being in an engaging Lecture Series conversation.

Arianna challenged and redefined the prevalent definition of success to begin the conversation. We always say "onward and upward," right? Well, "onward, upward, and inward" is how I like to say it. The onward and upward journey becomes both simpler and more fruitful when we turn inward. In the end, I do not consider space to be the most important frontier; She stated, "it's inner space."

Arianna talked with Deepika about five important behaviors—sleep, eating, moving, managing stress, and connecting—that are the foundation of both physical and mental well-being. "We've spent so long prioritizing our external accomplishments and pushing ourselves to the limit that we've forgotten the essential role of taking care of ourselves," she writes. The fact of the matter is that everything else falls into place when we put our own well-being first.

Arianna also talked about her own experience with burnout during the conversation. She fell to the ground from exhaustion as she was building The Huffington Post. She shared, "I thought I had to give up my health to be successful." She realized, following this wake-up call, that our collective definition of success must include taking care of our health and finding joy in addition to wealth and power.

“I believe we should include what I call the third metric of success, which encompasses our health and well-being, our capacity to connect with our wisdom and intuition, our ability to appreciate the wonder and mystery of life, and our commitment to giving back,” Arianna stated as she reflected on her personal development and the process by which she has arrived at a broader definition of success. That's what makes a life complete and satisfying.

In the meantime, Deepika also acknowledged the growing awareness of mental health following the pandemic, but she emphasized the ongoing cultural obstacles. Now, things are beginning to change. However, there is still the belief that a person is not motivated or driven if they require downtime, time for themselves, or a weekend off. Instead, we look for people who are willing to work until the wee hours of the morning, and those people are praised for being dedicated, committed, and hardworking. Because I am an athlete, I am aware that you require rest and recovery in order to perform at your best and work more efficiently,” she added.

Additionally, Arianna and Deepika discussed practical approaches to stress management and daily well-being cultivation. "Thrive Reset" is one of the tools Arianna has introduced through Thrive Global. Each Reset features a breathing bubble that directs users to deeply inhale and exhale, activating the parasympathetic nervous system and lowering cortisol levels, based on the neuroscience that demonstrates that we can course correct from stress in just 60 to 90 seconds. In only 60 seconds, through cognizant breathing, we can go from pressure to quiet. It serves as a potent reminder that we do not need to reset for hours; We simply require mindful moments throughout the day,” Arianna concluded.
