Rating : 2.5

Jigra Review {2.5/5} & Review Rating

Cast: Alia Bhatt, Vedang Raina

Director: Vasan Bala

Summary of the Jigra movie review:
The story of a brave sister is JIGRA. Orphans are Satya (Alia Bhatt) and Ankur (Vedang Raina). Mr. Mehtani (Akashdeep Sabir) and his extended family take care of the children after their parents pass away. Satya collaborates with them and takes care of their day-to-day business. Aditya Nanda's Kabir, the son of Ankur and Mehtani, is a friend and has worked on a project with them. Hanshi Dao's client, Sikandar Kher, expresses interest in their business. As a result, Ankur and Kabir travel to Hanshi Dao. Despite the fact that their meeting is successful, they are arrested on the same day when police discover drugs in Kabir's possession. As soon as possible, the Mehtanis send their attorney Jaswant (Harsh Singh) to Hanshi Deo. Drug possession is punishable by death under national law. Kabir is persuaded by Jaswant to tell the authorities that Ankur was carrying the drugs, not him. After promising to be released in a few months, Ankur also makes the same confession. However, Ankur is sentenced to death. Satya rushes to Hanshi Dao in an effort to free her brother at all costs. She receives assistance there from Manoj Pahwa's ex-gangster Shekhar Bhatia and Rahul Ravindran's ex-cop Muthu. The subsequent events shape the remainder of the film.

Review of Jigra: A Movie Story:
The story of Vasan Bala and Debashish Irengbam has potential. The screenplay by Vasan Bala and Debashish Irengbam is engaging, but it also has a few loose ends. The dialogue between Vasan Bala and Debashish Irengbam is realistic.

The direction by Vasan Bala is decent. He has demonstrated his ability to stylishly execute certain scenes and increase their impact in films like MARD KO DARD NAHI HOTA (2019) and MONICA O MY DARLING (2022). JIGRA is no different. He makes excellent use of the slo-mo effect in the finale (beware of the roof jump scene). The plight of Satya also touches one, and for the majority of the movie, viewers would root for her. The intermission point is unexpected and stylishly cut.

However, the second half is subpar. When Satya and Muthu get into a fight, the movie falls apart. One loses respect for Satya at this point. After all, Muthu is correct, but Satya's actions make her appear to be a psychopath. The final scene takes a lot of artistic liberties. It's okay because that's what most movies have. However, JIGRA receives an actual treatment. As a result, the content and execution are off.

Review of Jigra Movie Performances:
However, Alia Bhatt devotes her entire being to the project. She makes it look like Satya is able to fight anyone and go to any lengths. Additionally, she shines in the heartfelt scenes. When she enters the prison for the first time, be on the lookout for her. Vedang Raina makes an immense imprint and demonstrates that he has a brilliant future ahead. As always, Manoj Pahwa is dependable, and he also brings a little humor to the otherwise serious movie. Ankur Khanna (Rayyan) and Rahul Ravindran are excellent finds. Vivek Gomber (OIC Hansraj Landa) is great and perfectly accents the role. Aditya Nanda, Harsh Singh, and Akashdeep Sabir are respectable. The cameos by Sikandar Kher and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor are respectable. Abhimanyu Dasani and Radhika Madan also appear in the film in fleeting roles.

Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina star in the official theatrical trailer for Jigra, which also features music and other technical details:
The music by Achint Thakkar fits well into the movie. Both "Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka" and "Tenu Sang Rakhna" are composed well. Pan India Area King is funky, and the title track is soulful. The background music by Achint Thakkar has a cinematic feel to it.

The close-up shots and cinematography by Swapnil S. Sonawane are excellent. The production design by Mukund Gupta is elegant. The costumes worn by Veera Kapur Ee and Vikram Dahiya's actions are realistic. The editing by Prerna Saigal could have been better.

Conclusion of the Jigra Movie Review: Overall, JIGRA is supported by some moving scenes and a strong performance from Alia Bhatt. However, the impact is diminished by a weak second half and a mismatch between the content and execution. It is likely to fail at the box office.
