MIRZAPUR THE MOVIE is about power and ambition.
Akhandanand Tripathi, also known as Kaleen Bhaiyya (Pankaj Tripathi), is the ruler, or 'baahubali,' of Mirzapur.He doesn't trust his son, Phoolchand Tripathi, also known as Munna (Divyenndu), but he respects the skills of Govind Pandit, also known as Guddu (Ali Fazal), and Vinay Pandit, also known as Bablu (Jitendra Kumar).At the same time, J P Yadav (Pramod Pathak) is pressuring Kaleen Bhaiyya to get money for his election campaign.To raise funds, Kaleen looks for a new supplier.Bablu gets a tip about Babban Yadav (Ravi Kishan), a businessman from Jaisalmer, who is selling seven truckloads of drugs.But Babban has a secret plan—he wants to kill Kaleen Bhaiyya.What happens next is the rest of the movie.
Mirzapur The Movie Story Review:
Puneet Krishna's story is great and fits naturally into the MIRZAPUR world.
His screenplay is very engaging and full of strong confrontations and action scenes.However, the middle part of the second half doesn't flow as well.Puneet Krishna’s dialogues are a highlight.Some one-liners are sure to be popular and might go viral on social media.
Gurmmeet Singh's direction is excellent.
MIRZAPUR THE MOVIE is a special attempt as it brings a popular web series to the big screen.It isn't a follow-up to the latest season that came out online.Instead, the story is set between Episodes 6 and 7 of the first season.This is a tough challenge because the events in the film shouldn’t affect what happens later in the series.In this regard, the writer succeeds, and Gurmmeet Singh ensures the story stays true to the MIRZAPUR universe.The movie is more than three hours long, but it never gets boring.While there aren’t a lot of action scenes, it makes up for it with intense dramatic moments that leave a lasting impact.Some memorable scenes include Guddu's tu-tu main-main with his father while his mother tries on warm clothes, Guddu and Munna’s meeting at the salon, Babban’s argument with Vasudha Pandit (Sheeba Chaddha), and Guddu’s first meeting with Babban.The scene where Munna scolds J P Yadav is sure to create a big reaction.The ending will surely get a strong response from moviegoers.
On the other hand, the movie feels a bit long after the break, and the romantic scenes feel forced.
Most of the actresses don’t get much to work with except Beena Tripathi (Rasika Dugal) and Mumtaz Bibi (Sonal Chauhan).Babban’s decision to kill Kaleen Bhaiyya also seems unclear, as his motive isn’t strong enough to justify such an action.Plus, the movie is predictable because it’s set in the middle of the first season.As a result, the fate of some characters is already known, making a scene where a character’s heart stops have less impact, since the viewer knows the character will survive.
Mirzapur The Movie Review Performances:
Pankaj Tripathi gives an amazing performance.
From the start, he makes you forget his lighter roles and see him as the King of Mirzapur.Ali Fazal is excellent in his biggest role yet, delivering strong performances without going overboard.Divyenndu puts in his best effort, with standout moments in the emotional scenes at the start.Jitendra Kumar had a big challenge replacing Vikrant Massey, but he handles the role smoothly.Ravi Kishan is really good.
His fan base has really grown a lot recently, and thankfully, the creators have really done justice to his character, especially in the final part.
Pramod Pathak, Sheeba Chaddha, and Rasika Dugal have limited screen time, but they make a big impression.Sonal Chauhan looks very stylish and gives a solid performance; she's an actress who should be seen more often.Abhishek Banerjee (Subodh aka Compunder), Kulbhushan Kharbanda (Satyanand Tripathi), Shaji Choudhary (Maqbool), and Anangsha Biswas (Zarina) all give strong support.Shweta Tripathi (Golu) and Shriya Pilgaonkar (Sweety) are impressive in their roles.However, they don't have much to do.Harshita Gaur (Dimpy) is not given enough to work with.Sushant Singh (Bhairav Singh Karnawat) and Rajesh Tailang (Ramakant Pandit) are reliable.Mohitt Maalik (Birju Lohar) gives a decent performance.Satendra Soni (Chandu Puncture) is a highlight and a pleasant surprise in the film.
In terms of music and other technical aspects, the songs don't really stand out.
'Ghoom Ghoom' is the best among them, mostly because of the visuals and how it's placed in the film.'Vaaroon Forever', 'Do Numbari', 'Sanson Ki Mala', and 'Vindhyvasini Ki Jao Ho' are just average.John Stewart Eduri's background score is excellent and really adds to the mood of several key scenes.
Sanjay Kapoor's cinematography is of high quality and gives the film a grand and cinematic feel that's better than the web series.
Amin Khatib's action sequences are intense and fit well with the film's style.Sonam Singh and Abhijit Gaonkar's production design is elegant, while Darshan Jalan and Neelanchal Ghosh's costumes are both realistic and stylish.Manan Ashwin Mehta's editing is good but could have been more precise in some scenes.
