Mirzapur: The Movie becomes first Bollywood album to adopt Universal Music India’s ‘Hear It First’ model

From the dusty streets of Mirzapur to the big screen, one of India's most famous streaming series is getting ready for its biggest story yet. After three well-received seasons and a fan base that has turned characters like Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit, and Munna Bhaiya into popular culture icons, the series is making its first move to cinemas with Mirzapur: The Movie.

Before its cinema release, Mirzapur: The Movie is making history with its music as well.

Today, the full soundtrack of Mirzapur: The Movie was released under Excel Music, which is a new music label by Excel Entertainment.
This was done as part of Universal Music India’s 'Hear It First' initiative.Under this plan, new music will be available to special subscribers on music platforms in India for a short time, after which it will be available to all fans who use regular, ad-supported tiers.

This makes Mirzapur: The Movie the first ever Bollywood movie soundtrack to do this.

Vishal Ramchandani, CEO of Excel Entertainment, says, “Creating a stronger paid music system is important for the long-term growth of the Indian music industry.

'Hear It First' gives fans another reason to subscribe while helping artists and labels more.As we build Excel Music, we want to lead the way in supporting our industry’s growth, and it's exciting that Mirzapur: The Movie is the first Bollywood album to take this step.”

Universal Music India’s 'Hear It First' initiative gives paying music subscribers early access to big new releases, and helps support the growing paid music system in India.

With Mirzapur: The Movie becoming the first Bollywood film album to adopt this model, it marks a big change in how music from films is released.
It creates a special early access moment for paying subscribers before making the music available to the rest of the audience. This is a big turning point in how Hindi film music is enjoyed in the Indian music scene, and Excel Movies is leading this change.

Produced by Excel Entertainment, Mirzapur: The Movie is set to hit the cinemas on 4 September 2026.
It brings together the franchise's beloved characters and fan favorites like Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Abhishek Banerjee. The movie also introduces new characters to the Mirzapur world, such as the popular Jitendra Kumar, known as Jeetu Bhaiya in the digital world, and the show’s current star—Ravi Kishan.

As the world of Mirzapur prepares to take its biggest leap yet—moving from a streaming hit to a cinema experience—its music release strategy is also making headlines for the right reasons.
