V. Shantaram biopic starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tamannaah Bhatia pushed to 2027; director reveals reason for delay

In December, there was an official announcement about a biopic about the famous filmmaker V.Shantaram.Siddhant Chaturvedi, who was in the movie Dhadak 2, is playing the main role.Later, Tamannaah Bhatia joined the cast as Shantaram's second wife, Jayashree.The movie is produced by Rahul Kiran Shantaram, Subhash Kale, and Sarita Ashwin Varde.They had planned to start the filming in April 2026, but even after four months, the shoot hasn't started yet.This has led people to think the project might be put on hold.

Speaking to source, the director of the film, Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande, said the movie is still moving forward.

He explained that the initial plan was to start filming in April and then move indoors after the rains.However, the schedule was delayed by two months, and things became messy.Now, they are planning to start filming in April 2027 with some more big names joining the cast along with Siddhant and Tamannaah.

The new schedule allows the team to do all the outdoor scenes first and then use the monsoon season for the indoor parts.

The film will show Shantaram's journey from the silent film days through the introduction of sound and color.

It will highlight his growth as one of India's most important filmmakers.He directed several famous films in Hindi and Marathi, like Do Aankhen Barah Haath (1957), Dr.Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani (1946), Amar Bhoopali (1951), and Pinjara (1971).

This is Siddhant Chaturvedi's first biographical role.
