Ramayana to become first Indian film to release in ScreenX format worldwide

Ramayana, the first part of Nitesh Tiwari's two-part version of the epic, is set to be shown worldwide in ScreenX and 4DX formats this Diwali.This marks the first time an Indian film is being released in the ScreenX format globally, as reported by Variety India.

The film has a deal with CJ 4DPLEX, which will show it in nearly 1,300 ScreenX and 4DX theaters around the world.

The film has Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshmana.Namit Malhotra is producing the film under Prime Focus Studios, alongside DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations.Shridhar Raghavan wrote the screenplay, and Hans Zimmer and A.R.Rahman composed the music.

ScreenX offers an immersive experience by showing parts of the film on the walls around the audience, creating a 270-degree view that makes certain scenes feel more intense.

For Ramayana, only selected action and dramatic scenes are shown on the walls, not the whole movie.

This follows Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which was the highest-grossing ScreenX film in India and the first made specifically for the format.

4DX adds physical sensations to the experience, using moving seats and effects like wind, water, snow, smell, and lights to enhance the story.

Ramayana includes scenes designed especially for 4DX.

Ramayana is the first of two live-action films based on the Ramayana, produced by Prime Focus Studios with DNEG handling the visuals and effects along with Monster Mind Creations.

Ravi Bansal and Ramsey Avery are in charge of the design, and Terry Notary and Guy Norris handle the action.The second film is currently being made and is planned for a worldwide Diwali 2027 release.

With the ScreenX and 4DX arrangements in place, Ramayana will now open globally on Diwali 2026 in these premium formats, offering different ways to experience its big visuals and action scenes.
