Sunny Deol-starrer Batwara 1947 passed with an ‘A’ certificate by CBFC

According to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) website, Batwara 1947 has been given an adults-only rating.

The certificate was given to the film's makers today, July 23.Additionally, the website says the movie is 145.34 minutes long.That means it runs for 2 hours, 25 minutes, and 34 seconds.

It's not very common for a Sunny Deol film to get an 'A' rating.

Even though his movies usually have a lot of action and violence, they are usually made for family audiences.Since 2000, only six of his films have received an 'A' rating – Champion (2000), Farz (2001), Karz: The Burden Of Truth (2002), Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani (2002), Mohalla Assi (2018), and Chup (2022).Interestingly, there was a 16-year gap between 2002 and 2018, during which none of his films got an 'A' rating.

Besides Sunny Deol, Batwara 1947 also features Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol.

The film is highly anticipated because it brings Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi back together.Also, the film is produced by Aamir Khan.Rumor has it that Aamir will also make a guest appearance in the movie.

Batwara 1947 is based on the play 'Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya' by Syed Asghar Wajahat.

The story takes place during the time of Partition and follows a Muslim family that moves from Lucknow to Lahore.They are given a house that was left empty by a Hindu family.The old Hindu matriarch refuses to leave her home and ends up forming a special bond with the Muslim immigrants.
