Shehnaaz Gill and Jai Randhawa’s Ishqnama set for July 24 release; trailer out now

The trailer for Ishqnama, featuring Shehnaaz Gill and Jai Randhawa, has now been released, giving people their first look at a romance set in the past, inspired by a real-life story.Directed by Arvvindr S.Khaira, the Punjabi movie takes viewers back to a touching love story that happened across the India-Pakistan border.The film stars Jai Randhawa, Shehnaaz Gill, and Saurabh Sachdeva and will be shown in India, Canada, and the UK on July 24, 2026.

Ishqnama is based on the well-known book Hind Pak Bordernama, which is about the true story of Nimma and Naseema.

The film is set between 1981 and 1988 along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab.It tells the story of Nimma, a Sikh poet from Indian Punjab, and Naseema, a Muslim woman from Pakistani Punjab, whose love story takes place against the long-lasting effects of Partition.

What makes the film special is that Nimma is still alive and lives in India, while Naseema is thought to have moved to England.

People are trying to find her, which adds a real-life element to the story, making it more than just a love story—it's also about living history.

The trailer shows beautiful visuals, moving music, and powerful emotional scenes, making Ishqnama look like a grand romantic drama where love overcomes borders, religion, and fate.

Arvvindr S.Khaira, who is making his directorial debut after directing music videos for many years, said, "For ten years, I poured the deep feelings of heartbreak into four-minute songs, but some stories can’t be contained in a song.They need a bigger picture.Ishqnama is that story.It's the raw truth of Nimma and Naseema, whose love changed history.This trailer is a glimpse of our work, and we are honored to share it with you."

Shehnaaz Gill shared her thoughts on playing Naseema, saying, "As an actor, playing Naseema is like a new beginning.
