Sheetal Menon opens up on Tu Yaa Main’s tepid box office performance despite overwhelming word of mouth: “You feel helpless at times…how do you convince people to come to theatres?”

After becoming well-known as an actor, Sheetal Menon has now stepped into filmmaking.Following her first directorial effort with the short film Siblings, she is ready to release her second short film, Duet, which is both personal and ambitious.Duet is supported by her husband and respected filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar, and features Sidhant Gupta as a pianist dealing with a challenging time in his life.What makes Duet unique is that it is the first film to be released on Spotify.

Earlier this year, Bejoy also released a movie called Tu Yaa Main, which starred Adarsh Gourav, Shanaya Kapoor, and a scary crocodile.

The film was highly praised and was meant to be experienced on the big screen, especially for the moments where audiences would get scared and scream.However, despite all these elements, it didn't achieve the box office success it deserved.

Sheetal Menon, who was credited under 'Special Thanks' in Tu Yaa Main, talked about the film's box office performance in an exclusive interview.

She said, "You always hope that a film works.You put in your best effort and hope that it has everything needed to be successful in theatres."

She added, "But what exactly does a film need to do well at the box office?

You do your best and get a great response.Yet, the film had mixed results.It's disappointing in some ways, but you can't dwell on that.You have to get up, move on, and try again."

Sheetal admitted, "It wasn't easy.

Sometimes you feel helpless.How do you get people to go to the cinema and watch a film?We are living in a tough time where audiences aren't coming to the theatres as often.It's getting harder and harder."

Sheetal Menon added, "At the same time, there is still hope.

I don't think an experience like this would make anyone say, 'I'm never going to do this again.'"
