A person who works in the movie show business told source, "We don't know why there's a delay.
It might be because there are too many films this week. Last week's film "Obsession" is still doing well and is taking up some showtimes. It could also be because of problems with getting approval. It's not clear whether "Scary Movie" will be showing next Friday, June 12th."
Meanwhile, as expected, there's been a problem with sharing screens between "Peddi" and "Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai" in Hindi-speaking areas. "
Peddi," which also has Janhvi Kapoor in it, is showing in theaters on June 4th.
A trade expert said, "The smaller cinemas have already opened bookings for "Peddi.
" The problem has also come up in the bigger chains, which is not very common."
The expert added, "Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is being released by PVR Inox Pictures in some areas, and the same company is also distributing "Peddi" in the North.
Luckily, there's no overlap in any of the areas. But it's still hard to assign the right showtimes in PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis. The issue is expected to be fixed in a few hours, at least in the big multiplexes, but it might take a little longer for the smaller screens."
Most of the smaller cinemas in Mumbai, like Eros IMAX, Regal, New Excelsior, Roxy, PVR Le Reve, etc., haven't started booking tickets from June 4th onwards.
Some cinemas have decided to show the popular Marathi film "Deool Band 2" on the next day, but they haven't set up plans for June 5th.
On the other hand, "He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe" hasn't started booking in any cinema in India as of 10:00 am on June 3rd, even though less than 48 hours are left until its release.
The source said, "Sony Pictures is talking to cinemas and is trying to make sure bookings start in a few hours."
The source also mentioned, "This is just the beginning.
Next week will also have many new releases. So it's going to be a tough time ahead for the people who run the theaters and the ones who bring the movies to the screens."
