The trailer of the film Main Vaapas Aaunga was launched at a multiplex in Mumbai.
The event was attended by director Imtiaz Ali, music composer A R Rahman, and actors Sharvari, Vedang Raina, Anjana Sukhani, Rajat Kapoor, Sanjay Suri, Manish Chaudhari, casting director Mukesh Chhabra, Girish Kumar, and Kumar Taurani from Tips, among others. Naseeruddin Shah made a special surprise appearance, which pleased everyone because it's not very common to see him at such events.
When asked about his role in the film, Naseeruddin Shah started by joking, âDekh hi lijiyega na film mein (laughs)?
â He then turned serious and said, âI believe that the credit for an actor's success should go to the writer and the director. If the writing is poor, even the best actor in the world can't do much to save the day. I am a living example of it. Maine kayi filmon mein bahut bura kaam bhi kiya hai. My sons (Imaad Shah and Vivaan Shah) watch such films at 3 am on YouTube. They wake me up and tell me, âBaba, aapki ek film chal rahi haiâ! And I would rather sleep (laughs).â
Naseeruddin continued, âImtiaz has written a lovely script comprising beautiful dialogues and powerful situations.
I have loved the films that he has made before. He has worked with a lot of love and honesty with the actors. Bahut hi kam aise directors mile hai jo actors ki performance ki wajah se retakes lete hai (laughs). And Imtiaz is one of them.â
Imtiaz Ali was asked to speak about the veteran actor.
He asked, âTaarif kahan se shuru karoon aapki?â Naseeruddin again joked, âShuru se!â
Imtiaz laughed and continued, âI went to meet him at his residence.
I was told that he is a very serious actor. But when I met him, his whole concentration was on why I was not drinking tea. He wondered, âKya chai acchi nahin hai?â. That's when I realized ki zyada serious lene ki zaroorat nahin hai. Normal banda hai!â
He then told him, âI was very excited and fascinated to see you in a turban and play a Sikh gentleman, which I had never seen in my life.
Everyone who watches the film's rough cut loves you the most in the film.â
Once this was done, Naseeruddin Shah made a quick exit.
Main Vaapas Aaunga releases in cinemas on June 12.
