Actor Rajpal Yadav is still in custody at Tihar Jail as he deals with a legal case related to a bounced cheque, his wife Radha Yadav has confirmed. Recently, she spoke to Bombay Times and addressed rumors that he might have been released. These rumors spread after an old video came back online where Rajpal thanked Salman Khan, and some people thought he had gotten some kind of relief.
Radha said, "Right now, he is still in Tihar Jail.
His bail hearing is set for Monday, February 16." When asked about his health, she gave a short but comforting update. "He's fine, as far as I know," she added.
Despite the legal issues, Radha said the family is staying strong together.
"All of us are here at this time. We are thankful for the support and love he's getting from his fans and the film community," she said, expressing gratitude for the concern and support from people in the industry and his fans.
There have also been reports that some actors like Salman Khan, Sonu Sood, and Ajay Devgn might have helped Rajpal clear his financial debts.
However, Radha did not confirm any specific details. "I can't mention any names right now, but I can say many people from the industry have come forward to support. I'm not able to share names and numbers at this point," she said carefully.
Rajpal's legal trouble started when he took a loan of 5 crores in 2010 to fund his directorial debut, the film Ata Pata Laapata.
The movie didn't do well at the box office, and he had trouble paying back the loan. The amount, including interest, reportedly climbed to nearly 9 crores over time. Although Rajpal has already paid 75 lakh, the court noted that most of it is still unpaid, leading to his recent surrender and continued stay in jail.
Ending on a hopeful note, Radha said they are confident that the matter will be resolved soon.
"We are hopeful he will be out soon. That's all I can say now. Once Rajpalji is out, he will be able to talk to you and the media for more details," she said.
As the bail hearing gets closer, the family waits for the court's decision, while support from fans and industry members continues to come in.
