Actor Vikrant Massey talked about some rumors that were going around about him being in a movie called Ramayana, which is a two-part film directed by Nitesh Tiwari. There were also reports saying he was replaced by Raghav Juyal. The rumors started earlier this week and made a lot of noise on social media and in entertainment news.
Vikrant Massey posted on his Instagram Stories to clear up the confusion.
He said, "Ok. To put the rumors to rest. I never was part of Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana." He mentioned that some media outlets had reported that he was not chosen for the role anymore. He added, "The many media portals reporting about my supposed 'replacement' should've done the requisite background check. Disappointing. Nonetheless, wishing everyone a part of the movie all the very best. Love."
He later took down the post from his Instagram Story, but didn't explain why.
The confusion started after a report from Variety India said that Raghav Juyal had been cast as Meghanad, the eldest son of Ravana and a key warrior in the Ramayana story.
The same report mentioned that the role was originally meant for Vikrant Massey, but things didn't work out, so Raghav was brought in instead. A source told Variety, "The role was initially supposed to be played by Vikrant Massey, but things apparently didn't work out. Raghav was subsequently approached, and he immediately came on board."
Despite all the talk, Vikrant Massey made it clear he had nothing to do with the project from the beginning.
The deleted post was his way of trying to stop the rumors.
Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana is a big two-part movie based on the ancient Indian epic.
It's expected to be one of the biggest live-action films in Indian cinema. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi is Goddess Sita, Yash is Ravana, Sunny Deol is Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey is Lakshman. The movie also has several other big names in key roles.
The first part of Ramayana is coming out around Diwali 2026, and the second part is expected around Diwali 2027.
