Bollywood's popular comedy series Golmaal is preparing for its fifth movie, and there's some exciting news about who will be in it. According to a report from Variety India, actor Akshay Kumar has joined the cast of Golmaal 5. He will play the main bad guy, opposite Ajay Devgn, who is playing the main character.
The Golmaal series, directed by Rohit Shetty, started in 2006 with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited.
It has become famous for its funny style and group of talented actors. The new movie is said to keep that fun style but also add some fantasy parts and a stronger focus on the main bad guy.
Akshay Kumar's role in Golmaal 5 is a big deal.
He is known for being in many successful comedy movies like Hera Pheri, Housefull, and Welcome. This time, he is playing a bad guy, which is different from the usual funny roles he has played. He has also played a bad guy in the movie Haiwaan, which was directed by Priyadarshan, and that was opposite Saif Ali Khan.
Ajay Devgn continues to be the main actor in the Golmaal series.
Other actors who are expected to return include Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu. Also, experienced comedians like Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari, and Ashwini Kalsekar are likely to be part of the movie. There is hope that Sharman Joshi might come back, but it's not clear if Kareena Kapoor Khan will be in the movie.
Golmaal 5 is expected to start filming by the end of February 2026 at Film City in Mumbai, and they plan to release it in early 2027.
This film comes as the franchise celebrates its 20th anniversary. It will also be the sixth movie that Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn have worked on together, including films like Suhaag (1994), Khakee (2004), Insan (2005), Sooryavanshi (2021), and Singham Again (2024).
At the time of the report, the makers haven't officially confirmed Akshay Kumar's role, so some details might change with the final announcement.
