Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has addressed rumors that he is working on a sequel to the 2019 romantic comedy Luka Chuppi.
He clearly said that there is no such project currently being worked on and that he has not signed any film beyond his confirmed releases.
On Tuesday, during an online session with fans on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Varun was asked about his upcoming projects after he shared the news about his upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
He replied, “Not signed any film. There is no sequel of any other film I’m doing. Will decide.”
This response directly contradicted ongoing media reports that suggested he would be starring opposite Sharvari in Luka Chuppi 2, a supposed follow-up to the 2019 film starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon.
The clarification comes after media outlets had previously reported that Luka Chuppi 2 was expected to begin pre-production in early 2026, with Varun and Sharvari as the lead pair.
Those reports also mentioned delays of six to eight months and pointed to scheduling issues with director Laxman Utekar as a reason for the slow progress.
Varun’s statement makes it clear that he has not committed to any sequel or similar project at this time.
As of now, his confirmed upcoming project is the high-profile war drama Border 2, set for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026. In the film, he plays the role of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya. The movie also features Diljit Dosanjh, Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, and Mona Singh, among others.
