Huma Qureshi slams online harassment; actress calls for equal punishment for digital misconduct

Huma Qureshi has talked openly about the problem of online harassment, eve-teasing, and the serious issue of bad behaviour towards women on the internet. In a recent chat with The Male Feminist, she shared what kind of messages she gets on social media and why she thinks people who misbehave online should face the same punishments as those who harass women in public.

Huma talked about the rude and inappropriate messages she gets.

She said, "People send comments like 'post a bikini picture,' and I think, 'what are you doing boss?' It's really disgusting and sad. In my opinion, just like someone who physically harasses or teases a woman on the road gets punished, people who do the same online should also get the same punishment. There's no difference."

She also explained how many people go too far in her direct messages, acting like the internet gives them a pass. "

You send me dirty pictures or write inappropriate comments on my posts, then you should also get the same punishment as someone who misbehaves on the road. I’m just saying common sense—please stop commenting on women’s clothes, makeup, lifestyle, jobs, when they come home, or their weight."

Her comments show a bigger worry about how online trolling is becoming more normal, especially for women who are in the public eye.

By saying online harassment should be treated as seriously as real-life misconduct, Huma is making the point that the internet should not be a place for bad behaviour.

On the work side, Huma Qureshi is getting a lot of praise for her performances this season.

In Maharani Season 4, she plays Rani Devi, a political leader facing challenges like power struggles, corruption, and personal conflicts. At the same time, in Delhi Crime Season 3 on Netflix, she plays a complex and dark role as an antagonist involved in human trafficking. Both roles show her acting skill and reinforce her status as one of the most talented actors in the industry.
