After impressing theatre audiences with his strong 35-minute monologue in Feroz Abbas Khan’s *Letters of Suresh* last year, Vir Hirani, the son of famous filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, is preparing to enter Bollywood.
A report from PeepingMoon says that Vir will star in a love story produced by Hansal Mehta’s True Story Films.
The project has a strong creative team, including Lijo Jose Pellissery, a well-known Malayalam filmmaker, who is making his Hindi directorial debut. Pellissery is known for bold films like *Angamaly Diaries* (2017) and *Jallikattu* (2019), and is recognized for his unique storytelling and style. The film also features Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman, who will create its music.
The casting for the female lead is still going on, and the production is planned to start in February 2026.
Vir Hirani, who studied at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, is already making his acting debut on streaming platforms with *Pritam Pedro*, Rajkumar Hirani’s first series for Jio Hotstar, where he co-stars with Arshad Warsi and Vikrant Massey.
However, the upcoming Hansal Mehta production will be his first film in a theatre, introducing him to the big screen.
Hansal Mehta, who is working on both theatrical and OTT projects as a producer, is supporting this launch as one of his major projects.
As a director, Mehta recently launched *Gandhi*, an ambitious series on Mahatma Gandhi that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and is currently working on a Netflix business drama with Anil Kapoor and Vijay Varma.
