This Friday, July 18, is the release date of Mohit Suri's powerful romantic drama Saiyaara, which stars Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The trade anticipates a surprise opening. Yesterday, Yash Raj Films (YRF), the film's producers and distributor, notified all theaters of the release plan.
Source was informed by an exhibition source that YRF has requested that all theaters begin showing Saiyaara at 9:30 am. As a result, theaters are unable to provide performances at very early hours. Second, theaters have been told that on July 18, they are only allowed to present six shows. However, this specific instruction only applies on the day of release. Theaters are free to perform as many shows as they like starting on Saturday, July 19.
The source went on to say, "YRF has developed two unique programs to draw in young people." One is well-known: customers can receive a 50% discount on BookMyShow by using the code ‘SAIYAARA‘. The discount is up to Rs. 200 and is available on a minimum of two tickets. And that is not all. Additionally, in order to draw in college-bound patrons, YRF has instructed theaters to make their 9:30 am show "specially priced." Additionally, YRF stated that the regular weekend charge should be applied to the remaining shows of the day.
"By having only six exhibits in a day, the occupancy will be higher in all shows," remarked a trade expert. India is also a cost-conscious nation. Consequently, the BookMyShow deal will attract customers. Last but not least, many might be persuaded to attend the early concert if morning ticket prices were lower. Actually, the youth will be able to watch the movie at a very low cost if the morning program uses the 50% discount offer. The under-25 demographic used to pack morning broadcasts, but in the post-pandemic era, this trend slowed down in many places. With Saiyaara, hopefully, this trend will reverse.
Saiyaara is the second movie in recent memory to use unconventional releasing tactics to draw in viewers. Aamir Khan's smash blockbuster from last month, Sitaare Zameen Par, also adhered to several intriguing principles, such as showing no earlier than 11:00 am and only four times between 11:00 and 5:00 pm on the day of release.
