The industry is revitalized, reenergized, and rejuvenated by "SAIYAARA." Yes, the record books are being rewritten by #Saiyaara. The fact that it is attracting large crowds of people is a really good indication for the industry. Beyond the numbers, however, the lessons learned from #Saiyaara are priceless.
Kabhi Khushi, Zyada Gham, the theatrical industry has had a rough year. Too frequently, we have blamed the audience for the decline in theater attendance.
However, we, the industry, are the cause of the issue.
We stopped producing the kinds of movies that draw hundreds of thousands of young people to theaters, not only in major cities but also in Tier-2 and Tier-3 locations.
We ceased producing youth-oriented movies that appeal to elderly and families as well as the younger generation [including myself].
We no longer produced films that touched us. Everyone can observe how people are responding to #Saiyaara on social media. At various moments during the movie, I found myself crying, and the ending brought me to tears.
The initial phase in the filming process, content, was no longer our priority. We ignored lingering melodies and viewed music as little more than filler.
Star power became the ultimate goal for many, and the disregard for music and literature was evident.
An audience will always be found for a teenage love story that is fueled by wonderful music and genuine feelings.
That #Saiyaara has struck gold makes me very happy. The fact that #YRF has supported this treasure is even more encouraging. #YRF, a banner that is often associated with love stories, has yet another huge hit in its portfolio that is also a love story. This time, however, it features two up-and-coming artists and is directed by the incredibly gifted #MohitSuri.
A successful movie instills hope and confidence. #Saiyaara has not simply succeeded; it has also revitalized, reenergized, and rebooted the film industry. It has restored confidence, and in a big way!
