Sonu Nigam gets relief from Karnataka High Court in Pahalgam remark case

Famous revitalized singer Sonu Nigam was postponed by the Karnataka Supreme Court on May 15 after pleading to eliminate cases filed for controversial remarks at a concert in Bengaluru last month. The court was informed that no enforcement action would be taken against the artist if they were to cooperate with ongoing research.

The incident arises from Nigam's statement at a live event. He said he was threatened by the young audience who asked him to sing songs in Kannada. In the video, which became a virus shortly after the concert, Nigam expresses disappointment at the tone of demand and responds to the incident by causing controversy alongside the Pahargam attack in Kashmir.

I have sung in several languages in my career, and the best song I've ever sung is in Kannada," Nigam said. We do a lot of shows in many places, but when we perform in Karnataka, we respect them very much. You treated me like family. But when a boy who wasn't as old as my career threatened to sing in Kannada, I didn't like it. The singer added: "It is because of such actions that the incidents like the Pahangam attacks occurred."

This comment resolved a strong reaction in Karnataka, Dharmaradi A, Karnataka A. He denounced Nigam for emotionally provocative comments that violated the feelings of the Kannadiga community. Counter reaction escalated as members of the Kannada film industry announced a boycott and refused to work with the singer. On this issue, Bengaluru police superintendent C K baba argued that there was no correlation between Kannada songs and the demands of the case in Kashmir. He therefore violated Kannadiga's feelings as he decided to register a lawsuit against the music artist.

After the confusion, Sonu Nigham has announced a public apology for social media. There, they tried to clarify their intentions and regrets about unintentional injuries.

Although the Karnataka Supreme Court's preliminary relief provides temporary compensation, the issue remains under investigation, and the state government emphasizes cooperation from the singer's side.
