Yes, the film was expected to take a comfortable double digit start and, in fact, before the release of Pushpa 2, it was also being pegged as something that will comfortably go past the Rs. 15 crores mark on its opening day. After all, The Lion King (2019) had opened at Rs. 11.06 crores in pre-pandemic times and hence this prequel was expected to go or up over that, especially since it was a successful film. However, with Pushpa 2 continuing to be the leading running across board even in the third week, itâs still good enough that Mufasa has managed to keep its head high and was the second best.
The reports for the film are just about decent to good though, which means it will not break into something bigger. However, on the flip side, this is a festive time now due to an extended holiday season, which means a lifetime of around Rs. 80-90 crores is still on the cards
