Synopsis:
YEH KALI KALI ANKHAIN: Season 2 tells the story of a man with a big problem. After the events of Part 1, Vikrant (Tahil Raj Bhasin) experiences the shock of his life when an assassin, Jalan (Arunoday Singh), fails to kill his wife Purva Awasthi (Anchal Singh). Instead, he kidnaps her and demands 100 crores of rupees. Meanwhile, Shikha (Shweta Tripathi Sharma) marries Akhil Bhatnagar (Nikhil Pandey). Jalan's cousin brother Dharmesh (Surya Sharma) arrives at Shikha's wedding venue to finish her off. But things don't go as planned. Shikha calls Vikrant. He reaches Shikha's apartment and finds out about Dharmesh. Now Vikrant has to act as if he knows about not only Purva's kidnapping but also Dharmesh's disappearance. Meanwhile, Akeraj Awasthi (Saurabh Shukla) is shocked when his daughter Purva gets kidnapped and Dharmesh goes missing. At this point, he gets the help of Guru (Gurmeet Choudhary), a trained agent based in London. He and Purva spent a lot of time together until she returned to her hometown of Omkara. Though Guru loves Purva, she has made it clear that she feels nothing for him. Guru arrives in Omkara determined to get Purva back at any cost. He soon becomes suspicious of Vikrant and has good reason to believe that he is behind her abduction. What happens next will set the tone for the rest of the series.
Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein: Season 2 Story Review:
The story of Sidharth Sengupta and Umesh Padalkar is a gripping one. Sidharth Sengupta's script is captivating as it draws the audience in with its narrative. Varun Badola's dialogues are sharp and add depth to the drama.
Sidharth Sengupta's direction has done justice to the script. The tension is much higher this time around compared to the last. The first season had its light and romantic moments. But this time the characters are spiralling into madness right from the very first scene. Vikrant's track is the best as there is a constant sense of uncertainty that the match could end at any moment. The way he covers his tracks and saves himself is brilliant to watch. Some of the effective scenes are Guru's interrogation of Vikrant's sister Pallavi (Hetal Galla), Purva and Neetu's (Nikita Grover) friendship and Purva's escape from the hospital. An unexpected scene is when Vikrant tells Akeraj that he is Purva and that he never loved Dharmesh.
Web Series Review: Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein: Season 2
On the other hand, just like the first season, the film takes too many liberties. In fact, some developments defy logic and go too far. The whole beta blocker scene seems interesting on paper, but it's pretty far-fetched. Another issue is the climax. The season again ends on a cliffhanger, but this time it leaves too many unresolved questions which may not satisfy some movie buffs.
Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein: Season 2, Performances:
Tahir Raj Bhasin is apt for the role and delivers a convincing performance, even if the script is sometimes difficult to understand. Anshar Singh's screen time may be short but her scenes are shot in difficult locations and she does a good job. Shweta Tripathi Sharma is natural as always and at her best. Gurmeet Chaudhary is presented like a mass hero and delivers a competent performance. Saurabh Shukla and Brijendra Kala (Suryakant Chauhan) are credible. Arunoday Singh has a decent amount of screen time this season. Anantvijay Joshi (Golden) delivers some laughs but some of his scenes are just plain silly. Surya Sharma, Shashi Verma (Shikha's father) and Hetal Galla are excellent in their cameos. Nikita Grover and Varun Badola (Sherpa) make good impressions. Emily R. Ackland (Laika) and Benedict Garrett (Luffatto) are decent. Rajeshwari Sachdev has a strikingly special look.
Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein: Music and other technical aspects of season 2:
Shivam-Anuj's music is peppy. All the songs like the remixed title track 'Deewana', 'Mehndi Rang Laayi Hai', 'Mohabbat', 'Saajan Niklu Bekaar', 'Jaan-E-Jaan' and 'Jee Ghabraya' are well integrated into the story. Shivam-Anuj's background music creates tension and thrill.
Murali Krishna's cinematography is superb. The snowy scenes in particular are very well shot. Parichit Paralkar's production design and Subodh Srivastav's costumes are mesmerizing. Amar Shetty's action is realistic and a little unsettling. Rajesh G Pandey's editing is skillful. This season is only six episodes long.
Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhhain: Season 2, Conclusion:
Overall, Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhhain: Season 2 is an exciting thriller but the film takes too many liberties.
