CBFC deletes 9.14 minutes of content from John Abraham-starrer Vedaa

The makers of Vedaa, starring John Abraham and Sharvari, made the news two weeks ago when they said that they had applied for a censorship certificate for their film to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) far in advance. The film was sent to the Revising Committee (RC) after being seen by the CBFC's Examining Committee (EC) at the end of June. On July 29, the RC finally saw the film and decided to approve it after the makers raised their concerns. There were rumors that the movie had not been cut in any way. However, Bollywood Hungama has learned that the CBFC's RC made a few changes and deletions to Vedaa.

Regardless, a 1-minute-16-second lengthy changed disclaimer and voiceover were approached to be added. A request was made to alter a conversation that made disparaging remarks about women and social identity. Then, a hanging scene that lasted 2 minutes and 16 seconds was cut. When referring to the Jodhpur High Court, the word "Jodhpur" was muted, and visuals of violence inside the courthouse were requested to be reduced by 30%. Thusly, the producers needed to slash off 6 minutes 15 seconds of the film.

In addition, a character is seen listening to a Sanskrit shloka-infused audio track on a mobile phone. This tune was erased by the CBFC. An oppressive word 'behenkhor' was supplanted with 'bana'. Additionally, the CBFC requested that the creators blur images of currency note fragments and tearing. In addition, the text data 'Brahmin son...Shudra's child' was approached to be erased.

Finally, the creators submitted credible references, that is paper articles, court decisions, strict sacred texts and so on. to indicate that the film is based on real-life events.

The CBFC removed the film for a total of nine minutes and fourteen seconds. On August 6, Vedaa received a U/A certificate after the changes were made. According to the certificate, the film is 150 minutes long. Vedaa, in other words, lasts for two hours and thirty minutes. It opens in theaters on August 15 and is directed by Nikkhil Advani.

“Padma Shri Ramesh Patange was the Presiding Officer of the RC,” a source told Bollywood Hungama. He is known to approve films that the EC has reservations about. As of late, he likewise cleared the questionable film Hamare Baraah and it's nothing unexpected that he additionally passed Vedaa, dependent upon specific alterations."
