 Kalki 2898 AD: Synopsis

The story of an extraordinary man in the future is told in KALKI 2898 AD. It is the year 2898 AD. Bhairava, also known as Prabhas, is a bounty hunter who resides in Kashi, the last city on earth. The people of Kashi have no other cities left, and they barely scrape by. In the meantime, the elite residents live in a place called "Complex." Bhairava wants to be able to afford a place in the Complex. Manas (Saswata Chatterjee), a commander, is in charge of the Complex and reports to Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan). Yaskin has started "Project K" and has locked pregnant women up for an experiment. One such mother is Sumati (Deepika Padukone). One of her coworkers is a rebel named Lily (Kavya Ramachandran), who is not known to the people living in the Complex or the armed forces. Shambala is the secret home of these rebels, who oppose the Complex. Lily must free Sumati from the Complex before she is killed due to circumstances. Bhairava follows Sumati as a bounty is placed on her. Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan) wakes up all of a sudden and decides to do whatever it takes to save Sumati's life. The subsequent events shape the remainder of the film.

The story by Nag Ashwin is fantastic and seamlessly combines mythology and the future. The additional screenplay by Rutham Samar, written by Nag Ashwin, has some gaps. However, the taut and compelling remainder of the script makes up for it. The dialogues by Sai Madhav Burra and additional dialogues by B S Sarwagna Kumar are acceptable, but a few of the Easter Eggs one-liners enhance the humor.

Annoy Ashwin's course is preeminent. It is abundantly clear that this is a sincere effort from the very beginning. The USP is the mythology angle, and it is not added for the sake of it. In addition, it is believed due to the clever integration with the dystopian era narrative. The film ends on a high note when the characters and their arcs come together. This adds to the fun and madness. The various appearances likewise add to the amusement remainder. Expect a lot of cheers and whistles at this point because the finale is the best part of the show.

On the other hand, the first half is weak, with the exception of the opening scene and the point during the intermission. The universe of 2898 Promotion isn't made sense of appropriately and consequently, watchers probably won't get associated with it totally. Additionally, Yaskin's experiment is poorly explained, which may cause viewers to become confused. Last but not least, a few scenes and moments may evoke memories of MAD MAX and even BAAHUBALI.

Even though he only appears in two scenes, Kamal Haasan dominates the show. Disha Patani (Roxie) looks sizzling however her job is constrained into the story. Saswata Chatterjee and Kavya Ramachandran provide competent assistance. Rajan's Brahmanandam makes people laugh. Shobana (Mariam) and Anna Ben (Kyra) make significant impressions. Keya Nair (Raia), Pasupathy (Veeran), Anil George (Bani), and Ayaz Pasha (Ajju) are all fair. Bujji's voice is excellent, thanks to Keerthy Suresh. Lastly, in special appearances, Mrunal Thakur, S S Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Varma, Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, and others are far superior.

The costumes are fashionable and have an air of the future. Even in a single frame, the VFX does not appear tacky and conforms to international standards. The action starring King Solomon, Andy Long, Peter Heins, Satish, Anbariv, and Nick Powell could have been more exciting, but overall, they add to the film's entertainment value and scope. Overall, Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao's editing is good, but a few scenes could have been better. The battle scenes between Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas, for example, were excessively lengthy and, surprisingly, tedious.
