On September 15, 2026, the Supreme Court gave actor Rajpal Yadav a final two-week period to submit a clear plan to clear his unpaid debts in several cheque bounce cases.A panel of three judges, including Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana, allowed Yadav to keep his exemption from surrendering until October 5.They also ordered him to deposit Rs 2 crore with the court registry.
The judges strongly criticized Yadav for not following previous court orders and said his behavior did not inspire trust.
They mentioned that he was good at creating drama but had not followed the court's directions.The judges gave him one last chance to show he was sincere.
On behalf of the actor, lawyer PS Patwalia asked for two weeks to provide a detailed plan.
He said Yadav would deposit Rs 2 crore to show he meant to pay his debts.Patwalia told the court that Yadav had already spent four and a half months in jail related to this case and would need help from friends in the film industry to get the money.
The complainant’s lawyer, Ajit Sinha, said the firm wanted to recover the money they had lent to Yadav.
He pointed out that Yadav had not kept his financial promises over the years.
The legal issue started with a loan of Rs 5 crore that Yadav supposedly got for a film in 2010.
In 2013, he gave seven cheques worth Rs 1.05 crore each, but all bounced.According to the complainant, under a 2012 agreement, Yadav, his wife Radha Rajpal Yadav, and their company agreed to repay about Rs 11 crore, including interest.The Supreme Court will hear the case again on October 5.
