FDA Chief Tukaram Mundhe REACTS to Preity Zinta’s ‘Team Tukaram Mundhe’ T-shirt: “Actual work must be done”

Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has replied to actor Preity Zinta's public support for the state's food safety work.Zinta recently got noticed online after being photographed wearing a black T-shirt that said "Team Tukaram Mundhe."  

While he appreciated the gesture, Mundhe said he had not spoken to Zinta personally.

He told PTI, "No, I haven't spoken to her personally, nor have we talked over the phone.But I am grateful that she mentioned Team Tukaram Mundhe."  

Mundhe said that having public support for food safety issues can help bring people together to take action.

He added, "I feel that people with good intentions exist at every level and in every part of society.A team should be formed around these good causes; good ideas, thoughts, and actions should be encouraged."  

Tukaram Mundhe says action matters  

At the same time, Mundhe emphasized that symbols like wearing a T-shirt with "Team Tukaram Mundhe" aren't enough on their own.

He said, "Just wearing a T-shirt with 'Team Tukaram Mundhe' is not enough.Simply showing the name won't be enough; the actual work must be done, and the right mindset must be in place."  

Zinta's appearance in the T-shirt happened during a time when Maharashtra's food safety efforts were getting a lot of attention.

Her gesture was shared widely on social media, which led Mundhe to acknowledge her support.

Mundhe is currently the Commissioner of the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration.

The state FDA is responsible for regulating food, medicines, and cosmetics across the state.
