The film, which hasn't been given a title yet, is their second collaboration.
Their first was the 2024 sports drama Chandu Champion, based on the life of India's first Paralympic gold medalist, Murlikant Petkar.Kartik recently received the Best Actor award for that film at the 72nd National Film Awards in India.
In this new film, Kartik will play a kickboxing coach who helps a young girl from Kashmir achieve her dreams.
The story is inspired by the life of Tajamul Islam, a young Kashmiri athlete who became famous as a kickboxing champion.
A person close to the project said, "Kartik was deeply touched by the story from the moment he heard about it.
He was moved by the courage, passion, and determination in the real-life journey and believed it was a story that needed to be shared with more people.That's why he decided to take on production, so he could support the film more deeply and creatively."
Kartik has been training in kickboxing for the role.
Filming is currently happening in Mumbai and Kashmir.
The start of Dopamine Studios is a big step in Kartik's career, showing his growing involvement in the creative side of the film industry.
His second project with Kabir Khan continues their focus on stories about strength and determination, and gives Kartik the chance to support a meaningful film from behind the camera.
