The issue seems to be more about the film's content than any negative reaction.
This Alia Bhatt and Sharvari starrer did manage to start off reasonably well.Yes, without the competition from War 2, this could have been the biggest opening ever for a female-led film.Even with that competition, there was some momentum over the weekend. But the film started to lose its grip on Monday, and from then on, it just kept getting worse, even missing out on the usual boost from Blockbuster Tuesday.
Today, Dhamaal 4 has released, and that film is the top choice for the audience.
Even if Alpha had had a stable first week, it would still have been affected by Dhamaal 4.And now, we're talking about a film that's been completely rejected, which means it has very little chance of recovering.Thursday's collections dropped to Rs.2.54 crores, and today the film can at best manage Rs.1.50-1.75 crore. That's a massive drop from the first day's Rs.9.12 crores.
Currently at Rs.45.71 crores, the best-case lifetime for this spy-themed film is now Rs.60 crores, which means it's a major box office failure.
