Welcome To The Jungle fever grips exhibitors; Supergirl bookings delayed as theatres prioritize Akshay Kumar’s comic caper

This week will bring the release of not just one of the most highly anticipated Hindi films of the year, Welcome To The Jungle, but also the Hollywood superhero movie, Supergirl. Both films are set to hit theaters on Friday, June 26.However, as of 7:00 pm on June 24, bookings for Supergirl had not yet started.

A trade source shared , "There is a lot of excitement in the exhibition sector for Welcome To The Jungle.
Also, the distributor of the comic caper has asked for a lot of promotion.Because of that, the theaters have agreed to support it."

The same source added, "Because of this, Supergirl is struggling to get the right number of showtimes.
Warner Bros is clear that they are not asking for too many shows. They have asked for 2 prime showtimes in 4-screen multiplexes and 3 prime showtimes in multiplexes with more than 4 screens. But they are having trouble getting those showtimes. The talks are still going on, and a solution is expected to be resolved by Wednesday night or Thursday morning."

As of 7:00 pm on June 24, Supergirl's bookings had started only at Devgn CineX in The Walk in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The same multiplex chain had also started bookings in Delhi and Ahmedabad.Smaller chains have started bookings in other cities. In Pune, none of the cinema halls have begun selling tickets.Similarly, the major chains like PVR Inox and Cinepolis have not opened bookings in any of their theaters in the entire North, Eastern and Western regions.

The source said, "Warner feels their request is reasonable and they are not asking for too many showtimes.
They were among the few studios that released their films during the pandemic when Hindi filmmakers were avoiding theatrical releases. So, they believe they should not be treated unfairly now that things have improved. The studio is hopeful that the issue will be resolved fairly and that Supergirl gets a proper showing."
